Andrew was delighted to be back this year to cover Morningside Christmas Light Night 2017 as official event photographer, and long-time Morningside resident. If you need photographic services for your event, get in touch to discuss your project.

Morningside Community Christmas

Once again, it was a fabulous Morningside community event! For the second year running, this event has been organised and run by Morningside resident Deborah Murphy, with help from several local community organisation. South Morningside and St. Peter’s primary schools, Morningside Traders Association and Morningside Community Council all pulled together to put on the event hosted in Morningside Parish Church hall. Even Mrs Andrew JL Ansell donned a high vis jacket and helped with  the stewarding – that’s her on the left with all the mince pies!

Eat, drink and be merry!

The event was lucky enough to have food and drink supplied by local suppliers. The Hermitage bar laid on mulled wine especially for the occasion – it was rather delicious! Local branches of Greggs, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose donated mince pies, cookies and tubs of Quality Street chocolates, all of which went down very well!

Compere beyond compare!

Dougie Robertson did a fantastic job of compering the evening and keeping things running smoothly, especially when it became apparent that there was a slight technical hitch with the Christmas tree lights….

As the City of Edinburgh Council electricians worked on the tree, Dougie kept the party going, in between more entertainment from the City of Edinburgh Schools Pipe Band – Susan’s favourite part (apart from maybe the mince pies!)

Switching on the Morningside Christmas lights 2017

Just don’t mention the tree…….

Well, it’s not all about the lights, is it? It’s about the community coming together to celebrate, and that’s just what they did. The lights may not have been lit on Light Night, but everyone got together and had a blast! Same time next year?
