These are our top 5 central wedding venues in Edinburgh. Each one has its own attractions, and some superb photo opportunities! You might find it hard to choose between them…
Be prepared to be blown away by the incredible interior of Edinburgh’s Mansfield Traquair (above). This is a true fairytale venue, with the most breathtaking murals painted by Phoebe Anna Traquair in 1895. The interior was painstakingly restored over a period of two years from 2003-2005 after lying in neglect for years.
This truly is a venue where dream weddings take place! It’s a great location from a photography point of view, especially for aerial shots – in fact, the gallery is so high that Andrew has to wear a safety harness when he’s up there!
The Bonham Hotel is situated in Edinburgh’s Drumsheugh Gardens. It is a classic venue tucked away in a quiet crescent in Edinburgh’s West End. It really is very peaceful for such a central location. The Bonham is a great choice for a small to medium sized wedding. It’s a favourite of Andrew’s for a very personal reason – he lived here when the building was owned by the University of Edinburgh and always brings back fond memories!
Principal Edinburgh George Street
One thing you might not know about the Principal Edinburgh George Street is that is has access to secluded private gardens, right in the heart of the city! The beautifully manicured gardens are perfect for romantic wedding photographs. You really are spoiled for choice for your wedding portrait backdrop with the addition of the new Fourth View Terrace on the rooftop in 2018. The legendary Oskar is their famed wedding planner, and will guide you every step of the way.
The Rowantree is one of Edinburgh’s hidden secrets. Deep in the old town, this venue forms part of the arches supporting Edinburgh’s South Bridge. As you would expect from its age, the venue is steeped in history. A smaller venue with a quirky interior, the Rowantree is a great choice for an intimate, alternative wedding.
Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh –
With its views of Edinburgh Castle and central location, the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, is the perfect Scottish destination wedding venue. A range of rooms and suites can cater for the largest weddings to the most intimate elopements. The large Castle Suite has to be seen to be believed, but my favourite is the smaller Versailles Suite seating up to 18 people.
If you have any questions before you book your wedding venue, give Andrew a call or drop him a line, he’ll be happy to chat to you. If you already have your venue and date nailed down, then get in touch to book!
